There are two types of Rhinoplasty operation. These are classified as open and closed ones. The open rhinoplasty operation is slightly more invasive when compared with the closed one.

On the other hand, closed rhinoplasty will result with less swelling and bruising. Thus, it will result in a shorter recovery time. When compared with the open rhinoplasty, closed rhinoplasty causes less pain. Disregarding the type of the operation, the pain should be at its minimal and easily managed with prescribed medication.

How long after a rhinoplasty operation can you kiss?

For the first 2 weeks after the surgery, avoid applying any lipstick, kissing or using a straw. Allowing your nose to heal as much as possible will improve your recovery period and the results of the surgery will be more pleasing.

How long should you avoid smiling post-op?

You may laugh or yawn on occasion without hurting yourself during your recovery from nose job. However, the less you do them, the better. Minimize smiling as much as possible for at least 2 weeks. Because every time you smile, the muscles around the tip of the nose become stretched. Thus, it can prolong the recovery time.  

At the same time, you should avoid crying as well. In this regard, crying may damage your healing even more than smiling. The reason is that your nasal muscles shrink and can cause inflammation.

Is closed Rhinoplasty Surgery harder?

Yes, when compared with open rhinoplasty surgery performed harder than closed one. You can imagine that training of this technique can be challenging. In addition, healthcare professionals spend more time and be more experienced to perform this. One of the reasons for the same is that closed nose job includes creating incisions and stitching them closed.
