What are Forehead and Brow Lift?

Forehead and brow aesthetics are common procedures. Depending on the situation, it can be done at the same time with other cosmetic procedures.

The forehead skin begins to loosen and sag in parallel with the advancing age, as in the facial skin, and the existing lines deepen. These lines become vertical between the eyebrows. Due to the increasing movements of the eyebrows in advanced ages, loosening occurs especially on the eyebrows. Although these wrinkles are difficult to open; On the contrary, after some application or increasing or increasing the dose, it pushes the eyelids downward, causing the patient to look more tired and have difficulty in opening the eyes. In such cases, a solution can be found with applications such as forehead and eyebrow lifting to tighten the skin of that area.

In the forehead area, there are normally lines that vary in depth from person to person. However, these lines deepen and become apparent over time depending on the effects of aging.

Again, eyebrows go down with aging. This situation causes the person to look tired and unhappy.

Genetic and environmental factors (bad habits, irregular diet, irregular sleep, inactivity, stress …) accelerate the emergence of these problems in the forehead and temple area.

Forehead and temple stretching operations can be performed in men and women with deep lines in the forehead area and with their eyebrows down. These surgeries are generally applied to people aged 40 and over.

However, in some cases (those with genetic and structural problems), it can be applied at a younger age.

In forehead and temple lift (eyebrow lift) surgery; Deep lines on the forehead are removed, and the eyebrows that have gone down are lifted up. In this way, it is aimed to provide a lively gaze and a healthy facial expression instead of a tired, unhappy facial expression. Some of the lines around the eye can be removed by lifting the eyebrows upwards.

In some cases, it may be necessary to remove some of the skin to remove excess sagging in the forehead and temple area. For this, classical forehead and temple stretching surgery is applied.

In this method, a crown-shaped incision is made into the scalp 4-5 behind the front hairline.

In patients who do not need to remove excess skin, forehead and temple stretching operations can also be performed by endoscopic methods. The incision is not all over as in the classical method. The procedure is performed by making 3 or 4 small 2 cm incisions in the scalp behind the front hairline.

Forehead and temple stretching surgeries are performed in a hospital environment. These operations, which can be performed under general or local anesthesia, can take an average of 1.5-2 hours.

Usually, the patient does not need to stay in the hospital, he can be discharged on the same day.

What needs to be considered after the procedure?

After forehead and temple lift (eyebrow lift) surgery, a dressing can be applied to leave the eyes, nose and mouth open. Usually the dressing is removed after 2 days. Stitches are removed within 1 week. It is natural to observe bruising and swelling around the forehead and eyes. Slight numbness can be a feeling of tension. All these effects resolve spontaneously within a week or two.

Patients can return to their daily lives 2 weeks after forehead and temple lift (eyebrow lift) surgery.

However, mouth exercises, excessive sun exposure and blows should be avoided for several months.

Post-operative results differ according to the structure and lifestyle of the people. The results can last 5-10 years in some people and lifelong in others.
