Root Canal Treatment – What is it ?

When Root Canal Treatment is needed?

Root canal treatment in dentistry that is frequently applied is the removal of tissue that resembles a thread. This is to save a tooth that is generally damaged. This tissue is tooth extract, i.e. pulp. The reason why it is called canal treatment is that the canals in the tooth are cleaned. Let’s say that even the most difficult teeth can be saved with canal treatment, which can be applied much more successfully with new techniques developed today. With root canal treatments the questions of why or how pulp damages may rise. Many elements can cause damage to this tissue called the pulp.

The most common among them is the cracking of the tooth. At the same time, the lack of timely treatment of tooth decay is due to the very much increased damage in pulp tissue. However, this tissue may be damaged due to a serious blow to the tooth and may need to be removed after a while. In this treatment, if the pulp is not removed, the risk of infection will be very high. In case of infection, pus that causes abscesses in the root part of the tooth and jawbone also may occur. This pus, which can progress far enough to destroy the bone surrounding the tooth, causes a very serious pain in the patient. Therefore, damaged pulp needs to be treated and removed by the application of root canal treatment.

What is the process of Root Canal Treatments?

First of all, it should be known that canal treatment does not consist of a single stage. In most patients, this treatment is applied in the form of several sessions. Before treatment, the patient is given local anesthesia and prevents him from feeling pain or pain. It is then expected that there will be numbing in this area. After the numbing occurs, a hole is drilled in the back of the front tooth or in the hood of the molar. The damaged pulp is removed from this hole and the remaining cavity and tooth root canals are cleaned. During this process, the channels are slightly expanded. If the treatment is to be continued in the next session, this hole will be temporarily closed.

If treatment is continued, this channel is permanently closed. However, some patients may also need to put a support in the canal. In the final stage of canal treatment, the crown is closed. This is to achieve a natural appearance and the treatment is terminated.
